Hi Stevy, im very satisfied to contact with you and interview you, it's an honor.
My principal interest of this interview is to know a little more about the best player of the year 2008 according to TEK9 community awards and to revise your path in the gaming, and your opinion about the gaming.
Hi, it's nice to meet you aswell, so let's go!
As the whole world knows, you are one of the most important and best recognized players and within the European scene, how do you confront this role? Which were your beginnings and your fist team?
Well i started really small actually, i started playing call of duty 1 in an unknown random team and started building up some skill and gamesense but i didn't get any credit for it untill i met Sloom & Woobai and they decided to give me a change in the infamous belgian team In Rectum Love (<3), and from there i builded more and more skill, untill i got into LowLandLions, and i could do all this cause of my brother who bought me a pc, and supported me all the way through, after i left LowLandLions i went to Team-Coolermaster, where i had a great time with players like choobie, aistrEEEy, gifty, yazzy & mkz ! and after a while i got an offer from TEK-9 and i took it.. when TEK9 folded i joined up with button bashers and that's pretty much it.
Do you remember any special moment that you want to emphasize? Good and bad moments….
Yeah, one of the nicest moments was winning against teams like H2K & fnatic on AeF, and every moment I've had in Button Bashers has been a great one, especially winning the LANS. it has been great so far.
A bad moment was when we got dominated at cdc4 with LowLandLions and lost all of our games, made me go emo, because i had a bad LAN aswell but ohwell shit happens.
There have been many Call of Duty games, lately it seems that the option of returning to Call of Duty 2 has gained strength after the disappointment that Call of Duty 5 was, and the weariness of many players with Call of Duty 4, what do you think about it? Would you return to Call of Duty 2?
I don't mind returning to any game, but it's stupid. CoD4 is so much bigger than cod2, and it's a fact. I didn't even bother to buy CoD5 cause i can't be bothered with a game made by treyarch for pc. I like playing CoD 1,2,4 so i don't mind switching to any games.
As we have been able to see, your start in Call of Duty was humble and you gained skill little by little, until eventually becoming a big player, which has been your secret? Does becoming a big player require a lot of training or is something innate?
You need a couple of things, you need alot of motivation, patience, dedication & talent to keep progressing aswell, but the most important thing is to never give up. I actually don't play that much, i only play when we play with the team, or if i'm extremely bored i'll just hop on a public to warm up a bit.
Which is your favourite Call of Duty game, what do you think about Call of Duty 5?
My favorite is CoD4, cause i've achieved the most in that game and it's the only game i've been playing since its release. Like i said before i didn't even bother to buy CoD5, i played it like 1 minute on svo's laptop on Maxlan, France. It almost made me puke. So i don't like it…AT ALL
A few months ago the TEK9 CoD4 team announced its separation after a successful path, especially in CoD2, which were the principal reasons for the dissolution of such a successful team? Can you tell us something we should emphasize about TEK9?
Well we just splitted up because there wasn't anything else we could do, we couldn't go to alot of lans cause of exams and stuff like that.
Which were the reasons that made you choose Button Bashers as new team?
Ah i got contacted by pietje i think so i decided to try-out with them, everything went well and there was no point of continue searching because i got all i wanted in Button Bashers and the guys are great
Button Bashers has been chosen as the best team of 2008 by the TEK9 community, beside being named top1 of Europe and having won lans such as The GameLand, which is the secret of your success and your future plans?
Well, just a good team chemistry, no whine, and not overpraccing. Everybody acts like OMG THEY PLAY 10 HOURS A DAY, but we barely played in the last 2-3 months, we search for a game but can't find anything so. When we went to gamerland we didn't play for 3 weeks, so. We'll decide something if we know which game will be played in the future.
Being a famous player I suppose it's be a difficult role, you should always give the parties at length and bear great pressure, can you tell us about it?
Yeah, there's always some kind of pressure on you, especially when you're a sniper but i'm managing fine with it. I just focus on the game and not on the people that sit behind me spectating me. I just forget about all the rest and do my own thing. It works great so
Your videofrag “9 Lives” has also been very well valued by the CoD4 community, many people think that you are the best CoD4 sniper. I suppose that you followed the production of your videofrag closely, can you tell us something of it?
Ah i feel sorry for Billy, because he put so much work in it and he had so much bad luck, his harddrive crashed and lost files, then the movie wouldn't render. It was really stressfull for him but he pulled it off and made a great fragmovie. He got what he deserved and that was the award for best CoD4 fragmovie of 2008, he's a great moviemaker.
During your years in gaming you have dealt with many players and teams, which are the teams and players who have most impressed you throughout your trayectory?
hmm.. hard question. As a CoD4 team i have to say EG, really great teamwork and nice bunch of guys. As for players, Sticky. He was really underrated in CoD2 and was a great teamleader & teamplayer, a player which every team should have. Another player was Eplot1c, he's just good.
Which teams do you feel are stronger in the scene today?
Dignitas, ATS and maybe the new fnatic team
It's clear that your favorite weapon is the sniper, but…Which is your favorite map?
Strike, just like that map. reminds me of dawnville cod2
CoD2 is more necessary in a good aim, but in COD4 strategy is more important, do you agree with this? Is strategy more important than having good players?
Ah both are, CoD2 has 100% more luck with the random 1shootads through smoke that don't make sense.
To end this interview, I would like if you could tell us, since Stevy lives through important matches, lans, trainings..... is a lot of money earned in lans?
Yeah, i've earned quite an ammount of money throughout my short time in Button Bashers. It's just always the same. Got to stay focused and motivated and enter every match with "i'm the best" attitude, and never ever be affraid of any player you'll have to play against
