Hello NinthGaming!
This interview will be the first in a series called ‘Introducing...’, aiming to shed some light on the Call of Duty 5 community. Over the next few weeks I’ll be interviewing players from top teams, as well as other community members in order to find out more about why they play, their thoughts on the game and much more.
I thought the best place to start the series would be at the top. Afterlife started out as Te4m Four eSports and since the release of Call of Duty 5 have been competing against the top teams. They also recently won the Ninth Cod5 Nightcup #3. To find out more about the team I had a little chat with  RudYih.
Hi RudYih, Could you please introduce yourself to our lovely readers.
Hellooo, my name is Miika "RudYih" Roth and I'm playing cod:waw for da Afterlife team.
Can you also introduce the other players in your team
fUSZKAErly: He is our teamleader and is our assault hero with uber aim, and sometimes he makes new tactics. :p
eiphi: Is our second assault always bottom with olfsn but still a good gamer, he has great aim and sometimes he can take 1onX situations!
olfsn: Turku nuff said... Okey really he playes with thompson/rifle and is almost everytime useless but this lad knows how to play CASTLE omfg.
pNNDE: the magnificent is our rifle monster and once in a month he uses shotgun and hell is on loose then. Great all-round player with nice aim and tac-nades.
fUSZKAErly on RudYih: RudYih is our uber sniper and he gets headshots sometimes too. Very offensive gamestyle, and 1on5 situations are breakfast for him. Known him since vCOD, luv ya mate <3
Can you give us a brief background of your team, how long have you played together and what games did you play before cod5?
Okey me, fuszkaerly and pnnde have played together since cod1. fuzskaerly asked me to play cod5 with him so now I play cod5 with him and then I asked pnnde and he joined of course. Then he got contacted by eiphi and olfsn, these two are truely the most greatest lad to play with.  somebody should come to listen our vent conversations so much ego!. :p I have played cod1, cod2, f.e.a.r and now cod5 nothing more.
You guys have been at the top end of cod5 since day one, what is the secret behind your success?
We don’t play so much I think that’s the secret. :p Or we are just too good and we all know how to play this game except olfsn who is still trying to be top at h2k public, but anyway and the second reason is that we don’t take this so seriously, it’s just fun for us so I think that’s why we are topping the hoods.
How often do you guys practise, and what does your practising consist of?
We don’t practice at the moment, we just play cups, when we practice we just play matches and try new things.
Not too long ago you moved from Te4m to Afterlife, what was the reason behind the move?
Te4m is nice organisation <3 but our manager left so we decided it’s our time too and I contacted my old friend keskiolut and so we got into Afterlife, which is a Finnish Multi Gaming Clan so it’s better for us.
Many teams were expecting you to win the current Clanbase Hosted Cup; however you failed to qualify from the group stage, what were the reasons for this?
Dunno, we got asswhipped by  iR but that was a weird match, they knew too much and were smoke-shooting a lot.  Tx didn’t want to play versus us and we got default win and that’s why they are in playoffs and Tx got 2 default wins ;D, but anyway good luck to them and everyone else in the playoffs
You recently won the Ninth cod5 nightcup #3, how did you find it?
Ninth cup was excelent, and there were few cool teams in it ^^, but i think they should try new maps for da upcoming cup like cliffside. I hope the second Ninth cup is even better, better teams, new maps and perhaps new winner? :p
What are your feelings about the upcoming NinthLeague?
Ninth league sounds pretty nice, if they get more teams in it. And if they get good prizes i think people will start to play again, and this could boost cod5 community or something and bring new players and teams.
Apart from the obvious things like /record what do you think would help the cod5 community grow?
Well cod5 needs more players, and people should decide what mod they want to play, I prefer warmod <3. Hmm, also people should practice more then they will own us!
And what would you like to see Treyarch change / add to cod5 in the upcoming 1.2 patch?
Of course I’d like record but it’s not possible yet..... They should fix the blue screen thing and the bug that when you go to windows you get kicked from the server. :F
The community currently seems to only use 4 maps for competition, are there any other maps you think would be good and why?
Cliffside is great map. It’s so fast paced. Courtyard is good too it’s also fast paced and small.
Do you think that tryearch should add some new maps into cod5?
Of course, we should have few more good maps. People should change maps in the cups too, not always asylum, castle, hangar and so on. Put Cliffside and Courtyard on and play them too.
Do you think there should be any class restrictions in cod5 (i.e. maximum of 2 smg’s), like there are in other games?
No, if people want to play with 4 smg’s they should, I think it’s useless.
Despite the game being relatively new, have there been any teams that have impressed you? If so, which team and what are your reasons?
OutAimed, Ninth, nWo, nCrew, they all have great players and potential to be the best.
And what about players? Has anyone caught your attention in particular?
hmm, quChen and sNue caught my attention, they both have great aim.
What do you think is most important in cod5, team-play or individual skill, and why?
Team-play of course is the key to win; you must trust in your teammates and know what they are doing. But then comes individual skill, if you have few great players in your team they can take 1onx situations and pull crazy shots. Overall I think that teamplay is most important in Call of Duty 5.
